So, I Just Did This...

... all by myself.

My son will be coming home in a few weeks for fair week.
He informed me last time he was home that he is tired of the air mattress. So I went upstairs and cleared what I hoped would be enough space to at least get the mattress out.
It was waaayyy back there in the corner, between the cedar chest and office divider on one side and the wall on the other. Behind the box springs. I pulled and tugged to get it out.
Then I had to get it down this hallway and
around this corner and
down these stairs. This is the view looking down.

Looking up.

Then around this corner
to the left and down that hallway to the left
and into that room.
The door on the left opens to the stairs.

Finally, to lean up against some boxes still in his room.
But, there is enough room to lay it down and still have room for the dog crate.Hope he is happy. I was drenched in sweat by the time I got this done. There is no A/C in the upstairs room. That room is used for storage now. I used to sew up there, but with no heat or A/C it is only comfortable for a short time in the spring and fall.

When we first moved in my son was two years old. There was an old, cracked, crumpling piece of linoleum up there. We removed that. I decided to paint the dark blue walls an off-white color. My son wanted to help and since we were not going to live in this room I let him. Well, the floor ended up needing painting after that. I put polyurethane over the paint hoping to make the paint more durable. However, I somehow used two different kinds of poly and they dried different colors, one being more yellow. So the floor looks terrible and I never painted all the way to the stairs. Life got busy and I didn't have time.

The reason I did this by myself if because the husband was doing this...

The forecast all week has been for rain. It is not good for hay to get rained on so husband kept waiting. And, waiting. The forecast seemed to change by the hour the last few days - 90% chance, 40% chance, 60% chance, 20% chance.
Finally, he said, enough and mowed. He is busy enough with things that I don't like to ask him for help if unless I absolutely have to.

I have also been busy working on little projects for possible fair entries.
I had saved this idea to one of my Pinterest boards...

I felt like the knitting, a scarf, was too small for the ornament ball, which was the smallest I have so I made another one, with longer knitting.

It looks better, but I think I need a smaller ornament ball.
 Also, this.
I don't know why, but I enjoy making things in miniature.
My friends think I'm crazy. Maybe I am!
