This and That

To see what other quilters are up, go to Small Quilts and Doll Quilts.

I have -

finished the six-inch Feathered Star block

finished a twelve-inch sunflower block

fused more ties and cut pieces for some blocks

completed 28 log cabin blocks for Amish with a Twist 2

cut fabrics for pillowcases for donation quilts.
I have several pinned, and ready to sew. I was able to get three sewn this weekend. I found it was easier to cut the fabric and then pin them (burrito method - there are also several videos online) before sewing them.

When my quilt group was together for a sewing day a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I wished I had a source to donate some of my quilts. This week one of the ladies told me she had talked with a friend involved in the foster care system who said they would take any quilts, any size that anyone wanted to donate. Then there was talk from some of the ladies that belong to a guild in the area about pillowcases. They like to donate pillowcases and/or pillowcases with quilts since the children in foster care often don't have anything to carry their belongings in.

I decided to raid my stash and make some pillowcases. I was able to find at least one fabric from each of the quilts I am donating to make a pillowcase to go with the quilt.

A couple of the quilts are pretty scrappy so any fabric works with them.

I am happy to be using fabrics from my stash and hopefully providing a warm hug to a child in need.

Stay safe and well.
Happy quilting!
