Fixed!

This week I participated in a Barn Quilt painting party.

And, I did this...

But, today I did this...

I am really happy with the result. The instructor was going to make me another one which made me feel really bad. I didn't think she should have to do that because of my carelessness. Now she won't have to.

Here is a better look at my new shoes. My husband saw them on Facebook and thought I needed them. He is a keeper!

A Long, Hot Week

and, I am glad it is over. I am also happy to have a long weekend to rest.

I know it it Labor Day weekend, and I have been laboring a little and plan to do more. Laundry is going, dishwasher had it's turn, looking for items lost, worked in the yard. When I went back out after lunch to do more yard worked those tiny black bugs that seem to me all mouth were out also. They drove me back in with their biting. But, I did get a few pictures of my flowers. Remember, this has not been a good year for any green growing thing at my house. It has been very dry.

I bought a couple of boxes of mixed wildflowers and threw them out along the north side of our garage about mid-summer when it became clear that nothing else I planted would survive. They are doing pretty well! The butterflies love them.
And, these finally started blooming. I love sunflowers.

I also participated in a painting class this week. My friend wanted to go to but had a schedule change so she couldn't make it. I was happy to see a couple of other people I knew and they invited me to sit with them. I had a really good time.
I covered their faces for privacy. This is what the blocks are SUPPOSE to look like after framing. Mine wasn't framed yet. As I was waiting my turn for the frame to get added I decided to help clean up a little. I spilled black paint on my red and white block. Darn!
But, as the girls said, at least I didn't spill on someone else's block! I would have felt sooo bad if I had done that.

I am hoping to find matching paint so I can just touch up over the black. If that doesn't work I can repaint the whole thing or add some wood cut out 'appliques' or add some ribbon and silk flowers over the spots or....?

And, weirdly, the ink cartridges that I installed in my printer are still working! I have printed several color pages since putting them in and they have all come out fine.

And, Repeat

Today was a repeat of excessive heat. It didn't go much better at school except that now the students know how to get back to the library without being escorted which saved some time.

For breakfast today along with our eggs we had Caramel Nut Danish from Aldi.

When I opened the package I found this...

I guess you only need the walnuts on one half. It was good anyway.

The heat and lack of rain are not good on the crops and lawns around here.

And, I am seeing more of these every day as I drive to and from work.

And, it all makes me realize that fall is coming. I don't mind fall - the cooler weather, the pretty leaves, pumpkins. But, it reminds me that winter is just around the corner. I do not like winter. I think I would not mind winter so much if I didn't have to get out in it.Winter means ice, snow, inside recess. Oh, inside recess is not fun. My head hurts just thinking about it.

Oh, Monday

I'm glad it's over.

My school district, along with others in this county, released early because of the heat. That means we have to get all the students to the bathroom during recess because they get on buses right after recess. Today, because of the heat advisory the students went to the air conditioned library to watch a video. This is all new to them and it was a difficult, chaotic undertaking. I am glad it is over.

When I left school I went to my friend's house to get my copy of the block for our Exchange quilt.
I am doing block one of The Christmas Traditions quilt by Debbie Roberts. Clicking on the link will take you to Amazon where you can see the quilt on the book cover.

I am using a Round Robin piece from years ago as my medallion instead of the medallion in the book.

I am using black as the background and solids instead of Christmas prints.

Clicking this link will take you to the Chino Valley Quilters page where you can look at their blocks.

Edit: Blogger is doing weird things. After I published my post I noticed some small type in one area and lots of space between lines at the bottom. I thought I fixed those things, but every time I edit it gets worse. Sorry.
