Design Wall Monday

Check out what others are doing here.

I don't really have anything on my wall right now, but I did spend today getting T-shirts fused and trimmed. I need to cut the sashing strips next.

I had hoped to get a lot more done this weekend. It was a 4 day weekend for me. Teacher's Institute day on Friday = no work for me and Columbus Day today = no work for me.

But.... Friday I messed around most of the day doing a lot of nothing :)

Saturday was the first day of basketball practice for my son. That amounted to over 3 hours of driving time total and 3 hours of practice, plus about 30 minutes of unloading and loading equipment before and after practice. I did manage to spend a little time at Hobby Lobby. I do NOT need more yarn, or more projects, but notice the price on these. I couldn't pass it up. I really like the BLT scarf I just finished and it worked up so quickly that I am thinking these yarns might work for that pattern.

Sugar 'n Cream will be dishclothes.  Maybe BLT scarves with the rest.

Look at the price! Couldn't resist.

Sunday was the last Swap Meet of this year. Came home with one of these.
This isn't our puppy, but she looks a lot like this one.
Swap Meet Sundays used to be a big deal for my family. Up at 3 am. While my husband did chores and loaded the trailer with whatever we were taking to sale I fixed a cooler with sandwiches and drinks and got my son up and going. We tried to arrive before 5 am when they opened the gates. We usually were done and heading home by noon. Now we just go and look.

Today I did get the shirts fused and trimmed. I had been hoping to get the sashing cut and the top at least partially sewn together. Oh, well.

I did get laundry and some housecleaning done. And some puppy time. :)

On My Needles

On my needles is this....

I finished the sleeves and am ready to finish the body. I put the body on waste yarn so I could work on the sleeves. When I bought this yarn I really liked it. I still like the way it feels, not so crazy about the way it looks in the sleeves. I also think I am not crazy about the white in the yarn. I wish it was just shades of blue.
Anyway, I will finish it. I will probably wear it more as a jacket that I take on and off throughout the day than as a sweater that is left on all day.

Iced Cardigan in Sensations Rainbow Classic Blue

BLT Scarf in Caron Simply Soft Sunset
I also had on and now off the needles this scarf. It worked up quickly, which i wanted. I haven't worn it yet. It has cooled off here so I will being wearing it before too long.

Both of these projects can be found at Ravelry.

Design Wall Monday, October 1

On my design wall OR ...

this post would more aptly could be named Startitis :)

I have been wanting to make one of these for a long time. Now I have a reason to. Like I need a reason to start another project. This is Blue Ridge Beauty by Bonnie Hunter from Quiltmaker Magazine, Jan/Feb 2008.

My son is a senior this year. His first grade teacher has tutored him since 2nd grade and has become a good friend. I feel that she needs a quilt of her own to curl up under on the couch when she is reading or whatever. Just for her. I will back it with Minkee because she loves that soft, cuddly fabric. I want her to know how much I appreciate all she has done for my family. Not only has she tutored my son - a challenge to say the least, she has listened to my problems, with my son, work and family, and helped me come up with some good solutions. See, she is a good friend. :)

Another project I started, and finished (YAY) this weekend is this lovely, knitted scarf. I didn't post it in a What's On My Needles on Friday because I didn't get the yarn until Saturday. I was wanting a project that worked up quickly, and this sure did! This pattern is BLT Scarf. It can be found here. I used Caron Simply Soft in Sunset and it took less than the whole skein.

I also attended a quilt show this weekend. Here are a few pictures from the show. I will post more later.
